What are the barriers in the way of making a medical claim to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)?

Just after Remembrance Day ceremonies, CBC Radio One’s Ontario Today will turn its attention to the challenges veterans face when submitting service-related injury and illness claims to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).

Jim Hutton of Veterans With Cancer Inc. will be the program’s principal guest, discussing the work the organization's advocacy for a fairer, more consistent, and more veteran-friendly claims processs. Veterans with Cancer Inc has been encouraging VAC to remove the barriers that veterans struggling with cancer encounter when seeking recognition and support for their service-related conditions.

Why this conversation matters

Veterans should not have to struggle through an unnecessarily difficult claims process to obtain recognition and support for injuries and illnesses related to their service. Veterans With Cancer Inc. continues to advocate for a fairer, more consistent, and more responsive process.

Make November 11 more than a day of remembrance. Help make it a day when veterans' concerns are heard.
